GNSS Jamming and Spoofing Solution for Maritime Vessels
In today’s maritime environment, satellite signal disruption is a real operational risk. Single-source GNSS systems struggle in challenging conditions.
If one GNSS source becomes weak, disrupted, or unreliable due to jamming or spoofing, the system can be configured over the air to another available source.
1. What is the FMT-SSAS-V1 Ship Security Alert System?
FMT-SSAS-V1 is a satellite-based Ship Security Alert System designed to help protect vessels by transmitting security alerts to designated shore-based recipients. It combines an ORBCOMM ST6100 satellite terminal, two panic buttons, a power pack, and integration with the Falcon Mega Track (FMT) vessel tracking platform.
2. How does the FMT-SSAS-V1 work?
When an authorised person activates an SSAS panic button, the system transmits a security alert through the satellite communication network. Designated shore-based personnel can receive and manage alerts through the configured FMT platform and notification channels. The system can also provide vessel position reports and alert-related information to support security monitoring.
3. Does FMT-SSAS-V1 support global satellite coverage?
FMT-SSAS-V1 uses the Inmarsat satellite communication network, supported global satellite coverage.
4. Is FMT-SSAS-V1 compliant with IMO and SOLAS requirements?
Yes, FMT-SSAS-V1 is designed for Ship Security Alert System applications associated with the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code and SOLAS Chapter XI-2.
5. Can the system help monitor vessels when AIS positions are unavailable?
Yes. FMT-SSAS-V1 uses satellite-based position reporting independently of terrestrial AIS reception. It can provide configured satellite position reports even when terrestrial AIS coverage is unavailable or AIS reporting has stopped, provided the satellite terminal, GNSS positioning, and satellite service are operational. This gives shore teams an additional source of vessel visibility.
6. Can FMT-SSAS-V1 help mitigate GNSS jamming and spoofing?
Yes. FMT-SSAS-V1 supports multiple GNSS constellations, including GPS, GLONASS, and BeiDou. Its signal source selection can be configured remotely to use another available constellation when the current source becomes unreliable.
7. Can FMT-SSAS-V1 be used for vessel tracking as well as security alerts?
Yes. In addition to SSAS functionality, FMT-SSAS-V1 supports marine asset tracking through Falcon Mega Track. Depending on configuration, features include time-based reporting, distance-based reporting, on-demand position polling, route monitoring, geofencing, and vessel tracking history.
8. How are SSAS alerts received by the Company's Security Officer (CSO)?
Alerts can be routed to designated shore-based recipients through the configured FMT system. Depending on the account settings and available services, notifications can be delivered through supported channels such as email, WhatsApp and SMS. The vessel's identity and available position information can be presented through the tracking platform to help the CSO assess the alert.
9. Does FMT-SSAS-V1 provide alerts for power failure?
Yes. The system supports power monitoring and configured power-failure and power-restoration notifications. These features help shore-based personnel identify potential interruptions to the tracking terminal's power supply and investigate loss of reporting.
10. Can I monitor multiple vessels through one platform?
Yes. Falcon Mega Track provides a centralised web-based platform for monitoring multiple registered vessels, subject to the user's account permissions and service configuration. Fleet operators can view vessel positions, review tracking history, manage notifications, and access available reporting features through the same platform.
11. How is satellite airtime charged for FMT-SSAS-V1?
FMT uses a prepaid FMT Units system to help customers manage satellite communication expenditure. Airtime consumption depends on the number and type of messages transmitted, configured reporting intervals, and additional services used. Usage reports help fleet operators monitor consumption and plan replenishment.
12. What is included in the FMT-SSAS-V1 package?
The standard solution comprises an ORBCOMM ST6100 satellite terminal, two panic buttons, a power pack, cables, installation complete accessories, and access to the associated Falcon Mega Track services.
13. How can I request a quotation for FMT-SSAS-V1?
Contact Falcon Mega Solutions at sales@falconmegasolutions.com to discuss your vessel requirements and request a quotation.
